Short story published with Stay Words Magazine

My story was inspired by Danielle Bregoli who appeared on the Dr Phil show in September 2016. In her now infamous episode, Bregoli attempted to steal a crew member’s car while the episode was being filmed and later challenged the studio audience to a fight. Her challenge of “Catch me outside, how ‘bout that?” sounded like ‘Cash Me Outside, How bow Dah?’ due to her heavy accent and combined with the situation caused Bregoli to become an internet meme (posted below) and minor celebrity.

After launching a career as a singer/rapper, Bregoli returned to the Dr Phil show in 2021 and accused the show host of sending her to a prison camp masquerading as a behavioural education centre. Nobody believed Bregoli’s claims until videos were leaked showing the appalling conditions at the camp itself. Sadly the organisation that runs the camps are still operational.
